Luke's first Thanksgiving!!

We went to my parents house to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, with my parents, my brother and Mikey. It was a blast, I love my family and I am so thankful for them every day. Luke has really been blessed to be born into this family that will love him to death.

We are spending tomorrow, saturday with Jared's family for Thanksgiving, everyone from out of town is coming up since Sarah, Joe and the kids are here from Vegas. It has been so great to get to spend so much time with them this week! I can't wait till Luke is old enough to play with his cousins, Ava-4, Caleb-2 and Elleana who is about a month older than Luke. We wish they lived here so we could see them more!!

Well here is a couple pictures of the little man with my family for thanksgiving

Our home!!

So my mom and I, well really my mom has done most of the work, have finally started decorating our house! After being here for about 10 weeks already, we finally started to put up the pictures and decorations. I am not completely done, but we are finally making this a HOME, and not just a house that we live in. I am so thankful for the most amazingly talented mom who has great decorating taste to help me with our FIRST home!! I am so blessed to have her in my life. Thank you mom for helping me, I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU!!!

Forgive me I did not try to center this picture when taking it, but this is one angle of our living room. One of my new favorite decorations is above the TV. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
View from our living room to our little office area and then it goes into our dining room and kitchen.
Here is another picture of our living room....haha When Harry Met Sally is on TV in the background.
Some of the pictures my mom hung going up the stairs...I can't wait for more pictures from my amazingly talented friend Sara to be hanging up there!! And I found a picture at the store I want to hang up above these pictures, or above our front door that simply says "All because two people fell in love..."
This is our little den/loft area that opens up to the living room.
 Lukey poo's room =)
We didn't do anything in the bathroom today upstairs, but my husband and dad put in the new vanity and linen closet and new floor, but you can't see that in the picture.
Our kitchen, I love it because it is so open, it opens right up to the dining room making it a very large open space, one of my favorite things about the house.
 The dining room.
A picture I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby that I just LOVED!
A picture looking down on the living room from the loft.

Tomorrow is a new day...

So since my 6 week check up I have been "trying" to be healthier and work out more. The working out part is easy for me because I love working out. I love that feeling of accomplishment after I am done, I feel so much better. It's not quite as easy anymore to just work out whenever I want, but I have been really good and disciplined for almost 5 weeks now. My worst enemy right now is SWEETS. I feel like I have no self control sometimes. I have been trying to eat healthy and it is not working like I imagined. I need to wake up tomorrow and try again. Since tomorrow is a new day. It makes me sad that I haven't miraculously lost all the baby weight. I know it has only been about 10 weeks, but I want my body back. Everyone told me when I was pregnant, "Oh just eat whatever you want, if you breast feed after the baby is born the weight will just melt off" and guess what...that didn't happen. =( Anyways, I am starting new tomorrow. I want my body back, I want to make better choices and have self control. So tomorrow is a new day.

Boys being boys...

I was making dinner tonight, a recipe from a Rachel Ray cookbook I have and went out to tell Jared dinner was ready and found him and Luke laying on the floor watching some show on netflix about military weapons. I heard Jared telling Luke about the different guns he wants to buy so they can go shooting together...Jared has wanted a gun forever, but they are too expensive and when we have the money I would much rather spend it on something we need. Jared went to a shooting range with a friend of ours that is in the military once and LOVED it, expecially since this friend had some pretty awesome guns. Anyways...here is the pics of my 2 boys watching shows about guns. (excuse the mess in the background, I swear as soon as I pick up, somehow it is messy again, I guess we will just call it "lived in")

After a long week...

So after about a week of trying baby wise...well I have to be honest, I wasn't being 100% disciplined with it, but I realized that Luke is not ready for this yet, or maybe it is just not for him all together. I mean, of course he will be on a schedule when he is ready, but right now, it was causing more stress for the both of us then helping. So I am thinking that, like most people said, we should wait till he is about 3 months to start a schedule. As of right now, it was way too hard to try to keep him awake for 2 hours, it was making him very unhappy, and that is the last thing I want to do, make my sweet boy unhappy. We are still going to try to get him to take some of his naps in his crib to get him ready for the "big move", which neither of us are ready for yet. (Especially me, I LOVE having my little man right next to me)

Anyways, today was a great day, I went out shopping with my mom and got some cute clothes for Luke, he is getting more pictures taken by our amazing friend, Sara with Autumn Fields Photography, the week of Thanksgiving. We are having family pictures with our family and Jared's sister, Sarah's family, so we can get pics of all the cousins. So I am really excited about that! I hope we can get him to smile in the pictures. He still picks and chooses when he wants to smile...the best time to get him to smile is when he is getting his diaper changed or when he's naked. He loves sitting around in a onesie, but it is a little too cold now to be doing that.

After we went shopping we visited daddy at work, they had the turkey raffle tonight at his fire station, it was crazy but Luke loved all the attention! I can't wait till he is bigger and he realizes how cool his daddy's job is =)

2 months old today!!

Luke is 2 months old already today!! I just can't believe it! Time is flying by so fast! Everyone told me that would happen, and here we are 2 months later and it seems like I just blinked. I am trying to enjoy every second of this little man because before I know it he is going to be a teenager and want nothing to do with his mommy, so for now he is getting as many kisses, hugs, I love you's and snuggles, some nights I just don't want to let him go.

This morning Luke woke up in a great mood and we took some pictures of  him and his sweet little smile for mommy =)

I love his face in the bottom picture! He is such a little character!

He is such a sweet happy boy!!

We went for his 2 month check up today too, and he weighed in a t 12 lbs 8oz and was 24 inches long! What a big boy! He has almost gained 5 lbs since he was born at 7lb 12oz and he was 19.5 inches long. He is growing so fast!

He had to get some shots and did NOT like that at all. He calmed down pretty fast after he first got the shots, but about an hour later he was upset and so we gave him a little tylenol and then I let him take a nap with mommy, after we woke up and he ate he started getting pretty upset again and cried A LOT, he was very fussy and just kept crying. He calmed down a little after we gave him a little more tylenol and then he ate and now he is asleep. My poor sweet boy had a hard day, it was probably harder for mommy though. I wanted to cry when he got the shots and when he wouldn't stop crying at home it was breaking my heart! My poor sweet Luke!

Day 4 of sleep training

So it is now Day 4 of trying to get Luke on a sleep schedule. It has been going pretty good so far, but still not the best. It is SOOOO hard to keep him awake when he wants to sleep!! He has taken a couple really good naps in his crib, but I decided that I wasn't completely ready to do naps ONLY in his crib. He has taken a couple naps with me, some in his carseat so I can be out and about running errands etc. So I would say overall it is going well. I just REALLY hate trying to keep Luke awake when he really just wants to sleep. But I am sure he will get used to this and WANT to stay awake! At least that is my hope =)

This afternoon I hung out at my parents house with Luke while Jared did some work around the house with out us in his hair. And Luke's grampy just couldn't wait to show me how Luke scootches on the floor. It's really sweet how much my parents adore Luke, I am so lucky to have them here to help me out so much since Jared has a crazy work schedule.

Here is a little video of Luke and grampy playing scootchy...yes the girly voice you hear is my dad talking in his baby voice for Luke...hahaha

Luke has been trying to stand up in my arms now when I am holding him against my chest...he is getting so strong!

He has his 2 month appointment on tuesday, I can't wait to see how big he is! But I am NOT looking forward to shots =( my poor sweet boy.

First nap in big boy bed!! 8 Weeks old.

So I have had this blog for a little while now and haven't actually posted anything to it, I thought maybe I should start since Luke is now 8 weeks old today!!

So today we decided to start trying to get Luke on a sleep schedule since up till now he really doesn't nap on his own. Most of the time he is being held by someone, because he is just too sweet to put down, or sleeps in his swing or car seat while I am out running errands. This schedule has been taking a toll on mommy, I have no time to get anything done around the house! So after talking to a good friend and getting some great input I decided to give it a whirl today and try to get Luke on some sort of schedule. I am using the basics from the book "On Becoming Baby Wise", there are some good things in the book, but also a lot I do not agree with. Basically the book says that baby should eat, then have awake/play time/ then nap. And since Luke hasn't really been napping at all on his own I was SURE this would be a disaster.

So our day started out at 7:30, we woke up and I fed Luke, then he played with daddy and I for almost 2 hours and it was time to put him down for a nap. I gave Luke his paci and layed him down in his "big boy" crib before he was totally asleep, but almost. He fell asleep fast, I was so happy. Then I went down stairs to start my Insanity workout and low and behold...little man woke up, started crying, so I went up there and gave him his paci back and he fell back asleep. Well, this went on from 9:30-about 11. Luckily I was able to finish my workout because Jared was home to help. Then I fed Luke at about 11:15 and it was now "wake time" he was SOOOO tired from not sleeping that he kept falling asleep the second I gave him his paci back, so I tried to just have play time with out it. That was a nightmare. He cried literally the WHOLE time. I finally just decided that I would put him down at about 12:40 instead of 1, because it was so hard to listen to him cry so long, even with me consoling him, he wouldn't stop crying unless I gave him his pacifier back. So I eventually gave it to him at 12:40, took him upstairs to his crib and layed him down before he was completely asleep, and viola! Luke fell asleep! He did wake up after about 45 min and moaned and whined for a minute or 2, then fell right back asleep! Then around about 2:20 he woke up...so I went in and checked on him. He seemed to be pretty happy and I got a cute little smile out of him when he saw me

Then he started to cry so I picked him up and snuggled him a bit and gave him his paci back and he looked like he was going to fall back asleep! So I layed him down again...and he did just that! Now it's been about 25 minuted and he is still asleep. Well nevermind, I spoke to soon, my little munkin just woke up at about 2:50! I guess I better go het him and feed him and start the process all over! =) Wish me luck!!
